    All our workshops are held at Château Haut Garrigue in South West France, 1 hour from Bordeaux, 15 minutes from Bergerac, 10 minutes from St Foy la Grande. For large groups Caroline can travel to you if you are based within an hours radius of us.

    The Tuesday Wine Workshop: a two hour introduction to French Wines, French Appellations and wine tasting at a working wine estate - €15.00 per person

    Every Tuesday 14h-16h from May to mid September. This class includes a copy of our guide to wine appreciation with ready reckoners to help you recognise varietals, age of wine and well-known appellations.

    The Essential Wine Workshop Structure of this wine course:

  • 14h00 Arrive at Château Haut Garrigue: Introductions and overview
  • 14.10 – 14.40 Wine types, varietals, geography and how our region compares to french regions
  • 14.40 – 15.10 The theory of wine-tasting
  • 15.10 - 16.00 The practical of wine-tasting – we taste 2 white wines, 2 red wines and one dessert wine that give a flavour of the region and its varietals

    A two hour introduction to wine-making and its effects on wine including tasting of five wines that offer the opportunity to understand wine-making's effect on the wine. Minimum booking 2.

    This class is organised for two to six people and can be taken at any time. Let us know if you have any particular area you want to focus in on and we will tailor the class to you - whether it is recognising varietals, learning more about french appellations, grand crus or allowing us free rein based on your input.

    Structure of this wine-tasting Workshop (substitute times starting with 14.00 for afternoon workshops):

  • 10am Arrive at Château Haut Garrigue
  • 10.00-10.30 Introductions and overview A 55 year old vine at Chateau Haut Garrigue
  • 10.30 – 11.00 Wine types, varietals, geography, the appellation system, how our region compares to french and international wines, how to read french wine labels, french wine terms and more
  • 11.00 – 11.30 The theory of wine-tasting
  • 11.30 - 12.30 The practical of wine-tasting – we taste at least 6 wines

    You depart with a copy of our wine appreciation guide.

    The minimum reservation is 2 people. Group booking reduction of €10 per person for groups of four or more applies. Available all year round. Reservation required.
